Woodham host Clacton

A great effort by both teams today when SWF scored the first try I thought ok that’s fine but Clacton just came back and pushed our boys as hard as they could they never gave us a second on the ball and seemed as quick as we were to the rucks and mauls, their defence was as good as ours and we couldn’t get around them on the wings as we usually do to other teams and handling errors faulted both teams and we had gone behind but just before half time we drew level with a converted try and at half time it was all square (12-12) and my heart was in my mouth.

What ever was said at half time it worked as SWF came out and dominated the game all of a sudden we were quicker the hands were working better and the ball was moving about the field and our forwards were securing the ball allowing our backs to work their way into the game, as we scored the first try of the half you could see that SWF had switched on in a big way and shifted up a gear Clacton were still playing well but SWF then run in a second try and then a third unanswered try by now Clacton’s heads had dropped a bit and SWF we’re flying and they run in 5 try’s in the second half finishing up 41-12 winners.

The boys did them self’s and the club proud today and I’d like to thank everyone that came along and supported them this win means a lot to these boys and I for one are very proud of the effort everyone of them put in, every player put in a shift, well done.

This now puts SWF into the finals of the Essex Waterfall cup and we have now found out that we will play Westcliff RFC in the final if it goes ahead let’s hope it does.
