Today's visitors to Saltcoats Lowestoft and Yarmouth are our furthest opponents and although having a tough season were given due respect by the lads of SWF, who started off this game in a very business like fashion and after 3 minutes got on the score sheet when number 8 David Bull picked up from a 5 metre scrum and fed fly half Cumbers who scored the try and converted it to leave SWF 7-0 ahead. SWF were dominating matters but spurned some good opportunities before Cumbers fed winger Duggan who cut through the L&Y defence to score, Cumbers again converted. L&Y fought gamely and scored their first points from a penalty shortly after to bring the score to 14-3. But SWF were not to be denied further tries in the first half and winger Price supplied the next one in the 27th minute when from a scrum in midfield he was fed the ball and cut through the defence to score, This was followed by further tries from Duggan, captain Gittos to leave the score at 35-3 to SWF just before halftime. L&Y showed great determination to score their first try just before half time although helped by a wayward SWF pass. David Bull made amends with a sublime missed pass to winger Price who crossed the line to leave the score 42-10 to SWF at the halftime. No doubt the coaches main job at halftime was keeping the lads focused and this was evident when SWF opened the scoring with John Murphy scoring. Despite the spirit shown by L&Y and their refusal to lie down SWF scored tries throughout the second half and with only a consolation try for L&Y to show the score stood at 78-17 to SWF when a serious injury sustained by a L&Y back required an ambulance the ref abandoned the game after 73minutes. We wish the player a speedy recovery.
