SWF continue pursuit of promotion with comfortable win away to East London

With every game from here on in being massive a visit to the bottom of the table club can be a banana skin and East London came out at the start with every intention to try derail our season. The opening exchanges were even on a great pitch, but SWF from a line out and several phases saw Marshall score the opening try to settle us down. The east London back line who were all very youthful then decided to run every play and set us back a bit with the speed and creativity. SWF had to be patient and disciplined in defence but on a couple of occasions it was east London who were unlucky not to score.

However with the score still 5-0 in the 35th minute SWF scored their second try, Duggan broke through but was stopped by the last defender however the ball was carried forward and recycled quickly to give Langley his try. Harper had the champagne moment of the day when on his run up for the conversion the ball fell off the tee, quick as a flash he scooped it up stepped to the side and from about 30 metres slotted the drop kick.the third try followed on the stroke of half time when from a rapid Lockwood pass Brown stepped around a defender to score under the posts, successfully converted by Harper to leave the score at halftime 19-0 to SWF.

Having fully settled down and now with points behind them SWF came out in the second half and blew East London away who tired rapidly under the onslaught. There was a hatful of tries scored and the scorers were Langley, Apthorp, Levy, Marshall 2, Wilson 2, Reid, and finally Price rounded off the scoring with a determined run from his own half. Conversions were Harper 2 more, and Levy 3, to leave the final score at 74-0. Every player in the second half increased their own intensity levels which lead to the team displaying some great ball handling skills and flair but the hard work done holding East London back in the first half and keeping cool heads paid big dividends in the second half.
