The boys made the long trip to Beccles fully focused on staying at the top of the table, knowing that they would have to really perform to win.

They started really well with Reeve slotting his first kick of the game after 3 minutes to leave us 3 up. SWF camped in the Beccles half of the pitch for the next 30 minutes but failed to turn their dominance into points despite their best efforts. Beccles defence was very resolute and kept them in the game and so it was Beccles who scored a try in the 30th minute when their winger picked up the ball and ran 50 yards to score a fine breakout try, this left the score 5-3 to Beccles.
The referee and the weather then took a hand in matters, the referee who we have had before began to wield yellow cards left right and centre, so much so that I lost count but I think he handed out a total of 7 between the 2 teams. James Wilson had been sin binned when a severe dose of hailstones hit the pitch and during this period Beccles scored a try from a line out catch and drive, to leave the score at half time Beccles 10 SWF 3
The second half began badly for SWF when they lost 2 of their most influential players to injury Captain Gittos with a hurt shoulder and more worryingly full back Dukelow with a injured knee which may see him out for some time.. However in the 52nd Beccles again scored a try which was converted to leave the scoreline 17-3 to the home side. They had their tales up now and we came under pressure as the sought the 4 th try for the bonus point. Our defence was now tested and they were not found wanting, and Reeve calmly slotted his second penalty of the game. With both sides now chasing bonus points and the referee not able to control the game the pace of the game became frantic and it was no surprise that tempers flared and led to a 30 man brawl as both sides frustration with the official became apparent. SWF were still chasing the win and in the 78th minute second row Wilson evaded 3 tackles and crossed for a deserved try which reeve converted to leave the score at 17-13 and this is how it finished
Not a great day for the team but their spirit and teamwork was again evident for all to see, and it was a very important bonus point which may well prove crucial at the seasons end.
SQUAD Gittos (capt), Sharp, Morgan, Witzer, Wilson, Marshall, Bull, Gilbert, Gateson, Reeve, Apthorp, Harper, Price, Reid, Dukelow, Gregory, Brown, Newman.
