SWF continue their impressive start to the season with an emphatic win

A big crowd turned up to see the lads register their latest win in this division and maintain their fine start to this season. The sun made an appearance to reward the supporters who turned up and the performance by the lads was even better. I

It didn't take the lads long to get into their stride and Ryan Marshall stormed over for our first try which was converted by Reeve to leave us ahead 7-0. The much vaunted pack from Cantabs were finding life hard and their physio was very busy tending to bumps and bruises early on. The second try came in the13th minute when Gilbert picked up from a ruck and fended off the attempted tackles of 3 Cantabs players to scored fine solo try. SWF ahead 12-0. Cantabs were competing well but could not make any impression on the SWF defence where Apthorp was tackling anything that came his way with relish . In the 20th minute the always impressive full back Dukelow broke out of the 22 and went on a scorching run down the right wing and offloaded in the tackle from the Cantabs cover to Duggan who crossed for our 3rd try and Reeve converted to leave us ahead 17-0 and apparently cruising. Gilbert was making a nuisance of himself around every ruck but fell foul of the referee in the 30th minute and was binned for persistent hands in the ruck. This lead to a Cantabs fight back and they scored 2 tries in this period to leave the score at halftime SWF 17 Cantabs 12.

The second half started with Gilbert restored and he made amends for his yellow card in style when raced over for another fine try which was converted by the increasingly confident Reeve and a further try from captain, Gittos and conversion from Reeve left the score at 31-12 and seemingly beyond Cantabs to comeback. They tried but again Apthorp and the backs put in some heavy duty in the tackling area to stall Cantabs again and again, and in the 75th minute a great team try which saw nearly every SWF player handle the ball twice across the pitch to create the space for Jenkins to score in the right corner to round off the score at SWF 36 Cantabs 12. A great performance and result which saw the whole team perform to a high standard and send the crowd away vy happy.

Squad Gittos (capt), Sharp, Gregory, Tighe, Wilson, Bull, Marshall, Gilbert, Lockwood, Reeve, Apthorp, Harper, Duggan, Jenkins, Dukelow, Witzer, Borthwick, Cumbers,
