on Saturday, in cold and damp conditions.

South Woodham Ferrers grounded out a win on Saturday, in cold and damp conditions. In a day which started with snow coming down for hours, a changed Woodham side which included Jamie Cox, Joseph Bowers, Matt Taylor & Dominic Hoey making their first XV debuts started slowly.

Within 4 minutes, Norwich had scored under the posts from a line out. The try came from a penalty for Ross Noakes collapsing a maul outside the 22. Norwich kicked for the corner and a quick & clinical backs move saw the Norwich centre dive over the line, converted 7-0.

Woodham's first half was full of mistakes and the penalty count against was high. But a strong defence kept Norwich out. Woodham then put there first points on the board when Adam Brown slotted a penalty from the 22 metre line.

Brown then went from kicker to try scorer after Potu Leavasa was held up from a quickly taken penalty. Adam Brown collected the ball from Jamie Cox at scrum half and he spun through 2 defenders like a ballerina and triumphantly dived over the try line. Slotting his conversion to be leading 10-7.

Norwich hit back with a penalty of there own, before Adam Brown kicked another one to see woodham 13-10 at half time.

The score quickly become 16-10 in the second half when Adam Brown kicked another penalty. After this Woodham where then camped in their own 22 with constant Norwich forward pressure, great defence from Woodham saw them leave there 22 after 10 minutes of hard defence by winning a ruck turnover penalty.

Confidence now high, Adam Brown kicked another penalty before Warren Duggan scored in the corner after a pick up from Potu at the base of the scrum to off load to allow Duggan to crash over Norwich full back before touching down in the corner. To see Woodham win 24-10.

Tony Woods head Coach said "I was nervous at times, Norwich come out the blocks firing. As the game wore on, we slowly started to take control. Missing a couple of players meant Jamie Cox & Dom Hoey made their first team debut both put in excellent performances Coxy made there scrum halfs life hell and Dom's tackling across the across the park was excellent. Both have put them self in contention for Diss next week"

Jamie Cox MOM debutant said "I was ecstatic to be starting after a short first team appearance last season. I've been working hard in training for the opportunity, it was a big step up for me as I played 9, somewhere I've never played before. But I really enjoyed it and hope to have done enough to be included for the rest of the season. I was a little bit surprised to be picked as man of the match as everyone put in a great shift."

First team Manager Jack Kershaw commented saying "We got the result we needed on Saturday against Norwich, we're still unbeaten at home and selection this week will be tough. Everyone at training will be fighting for their position to be in that 18 on Saturday to face Diss in what will be the clubs biggest game in its history."
