U11's Travel to Witham

A big thank you to PK for organising and to Witham rugby club for hosting the U11’s on Sunday.

On a bright but cold day we took 8 players to Witham.

The first game we played on a very narrow pitch and we only played 5 a side, in this tight game there were more mauls then tackles and with the lack of room the passing was erratic and the interchanging of subs worked well and only a few handling errors stopped Woodham from scoring more tries, but Woodham managed to edge both half’s to come away with a win.

In the second game the pitch was widened and all 8 players took to the field, in this game the boys really played well in defence they were quick to rush forward to stop attacks and forcing Witham backwards, in attack they were passing the ball well and when there were rucks or mauls Witham committed more players then we did which allowed our boys to pass the ball and get around Witham and we had support so when we got moving there was someone on the ball carriers shoulder and this worked well allowing Woodham to get into double figures with tries in each half, to their credit Witham never gave up and push us hard in both games but on the day it came down to the momentum that we have built over the last few weeks and the hard work they have put in.

A mention must go to Archie having been ill all last week he still turned out and put in a great performance scoring tries and working really hard for the team. This weeks player of the week was kenny a great all round performance, well done to him.
