We started off the first half and I could see the boys looking at the size of the bigger boys on the other team but they stepped up and with a quick defence from the start we took the game to Upminster and it payed off we played a lot of the half in our 22 but Upminster could not break through and we finally got a break through and scored a try, the second half was a more flowing game and there were chances that went begging on both sides until Woodham scored a second try, the defence from Woodham was out standing and it took Upminster till the very last play of the game before they could finally break us down and we finished up 2-1 winners.
The second game again started out the same way, a close match until we started passing, we made 3 passes and were through and scored the first try of the game from here the boys grew in confidence and were rushing up in defence and causing the opposition to make mistakes which we capitalised on and with a few great kicks and some hard rucking we started to dominate the game, Upminster to their credit never gave up and pushed us hard but in the end Woodham won 10-1.
The way the boys played this week was a real pleasure to watch we had some great comments from the opposition coaches.
This weeks player of the week could have been any of the boys they all put in a sterling effort but Chris and myself both put in our thoughts and it was hard to choose between Archie and Felix they had both scored tries they had both driven forward and carried well and both had rucked and tackled well, but Felix had marshalled the boys well in defence and was talking to them all the time and this is what swing it in Felix’s favour, so well done Felix, and Archie keep up the hard work. Have a good week and see you next week at home for training.
