Woodham Host Westcliff

We started today with 9 boys that really looked like they wanted to be home in bed still, then we started playing in the driving rain, we should have gone ahead with the first try early on in the first half and came very close but a handling error allowed Westcliff to score the first try. Even after Westcliff scored 2 more our boys were still trying really hard, at the end of the first half our defence held out several attacks on their own try line, while being watched and cheered on by the youth chairman.

Having lost the first match the second started with our entire team up and ready and after chasing down the kick they seem to stay almost all of the first half in Westcliffs half and most of that in their 22. The second game was a great effort and the scrums and rucking was so much better this week.

Today the boys tried to change their play with kicking at different times with 4/5 different players kicking and the rucking over was so good against such a fast and well drilled team like Westcliff, a special mention to Felix and Thomas their chasing and rucking over made it a very hard decision as to which one got player of the week but this week Thomas just pinched it so well done to him and all of the boys for just getting on with it and making it a great game to watch.
