Home match against local rivals

This weekend saw Woodham at home for the first time since the end of September. The recent rain and senior team matches made for wet and muddy pitches, but the morning was dry for the tri-match fixture against Thurrock and Harlow.

First up against Woodham was Harlow. This was to be a physical match from both sides from the off, and both teams had to be warned about the hand offs and the occasional high tackle. However, Harlow had the slight edge at the breakdown, especially stronger in the ruck that their Woodham counterparts. Harlow had a couple of quick players who at times Woodham seemed unable to tackle. On one occasion 6 tackles were blasted though before the man was finally stopped. Both teams determined for the win, Woodham just missing out on a draw when Sam went over the line but was taken into touch before he could touch the ball down. Final score was 2 tries to 1 to Harlow, Keano the scorer for Woodham.

After a break Harlow took on Thurrock and Woodham regrouped with some training to cover some of the areas where they were lacking in the game against Harlow, before taking on Thurrock.

After a break from their game against Harlow, Thurrock took to the field to take on the home team. Woodham came out stronger following the training session and had a sense of wanting the win. That didn't deter Thurrock whose defensive line had stood firm all morning. However Woodham managed to get round the defence to score on a number of occasions. Thurrock were not taking the Woodham attack lying down and came back with tries of their own. Final score was a deserved win against tough opposition to Woodham 5 - 2 with tries from Harvey, Archie, Oliver and brace from Ross.
