First game of the Season

This weekend saw the first match of the season for Woodham, and they played hosts to Bancroft. The weather was more summer like than autumn and the stage was set for a great morning of Rugby.

Bancroft brought along 2 teams whilst Woodham were down to the bare 9 players due to injuries with Ox and Ogi. Woodham won the toss and elected Bancroft to kick off. Both side put in a strong display of rugby, but Woodham occasionally got sucked in at the breakdown. Bancroft were the much more drilled side than Woodham and were completing more tackles and were stronger in the ruck than Woodham. With 8 minutes per half and some excellent rugby form both sides, final score was 10 - 0 to Bancroft.

Woodham regrouped at the break and Bancroft fielded their 2nd team of the day. Woodham came out stronger and more determined than in the first game, and took an early lead. Both teams were strong with ball in hand and some great passes out of contact and along the line made for some exciting Rugby. All the Woodham boys gave 100% and this was seen at the end of the match with Woodham coming out on top 4 -1.

One game a piece with a great morning of Rugby but Bancroft wining on tries 11 - 4. Some things to work on around the Ruck and Maul in training next week, but man of the match for Woodham was Jacques. Team this week, Keano, H, Bullet, Jinks, Jacques, Ashley, Dan, Rhino and Crackers.
