Under 8's Southend vs SWF RFC. Sunday 25th February 2018

Just like the Six Nations on Saturday with Scotland vs England we had a smaller club taking on a larger one. It was nippy even with the sun shining, but the Under 8's weren't feeling it.

We had a squad comprising of Alfie, Brad, Keith, Logan, Mikey, Noah, Ollie, Reighly and Thea.

After a quick warm up we went into two games against the 16 players from Southend. The Team had been training on defensive lines over the last two weeks and some of this showed in the game. Still plenty to work on to get to international standard! We ran the first team ragged, playing 7-a-side and had a tighter second game against a completely fresh Team.

Alfie was strong in defence and carried forward well. Brad always made himself available, crossed for tries and made a couple of great tags, he also put in a lovely ( but not yet allowed ) full tackle on one of the Southend players. Keith ran some great support lines and has found his pirouette worked again. Logan was relentless in attack and defence, with great running through multiple defenders, almost unstoppable on the day. Mikey sped through and side stepped us to tries, working hard to get tags too. Noah ran in some great tries and found his tagging hands. Ollie scored tries and ran some good support lines, calling the defensive line strongly. Reighly put pace into the game with some great runs and tries. Thea also found her sidestep in scoring tries, and managed to put in some good tags to stop the opposition.

Great to watch and the meal in the clubhouse was a just reward for all the players. The smaller club holding their heads up on the day.
