The Six Nations started on Saturday and the SWF RFC U8's turned up at Old Brentwoods on Sunday to play some fast moving rugby. With 4C and the wind cutting across the pitch, hands and feet were feeling the cold. It was not expected that our handling would be great given such a cold day, but it better than great - it was fantastic, not a ball dropped the entire time. Well done Team.
We had a squad comprising of Alfie, Brad, Katie, Keith, Logan, Mikey, and Ollie. Old Brentwoods gave us two players in each game so that everyone could play in the chilly conditions.
Our warm up was quite physical and energetic. The Team brought this onto the pitch. Logan leading the way on tagging and pushing the opposition backwards. Katie drove her way through the entire opposition in one move to score. Alfie and Ollie carried strongly and put in some good passes, as well as scoring. Mikey danced his way through the tackles to score a number of times. Brad was great in support, tackled like a demon, and dropped one of the Old Brentwoods with a full on tackle ( which isn't allowed at this age ) - cracking commitment. Keith was running in tries for fun with good pace and strong support. We also made sure to include the Old Brentwoods players in our moves.
Somehow by the end, no one was feeling the cold and we all went into the clubhouse for something to eat feeling pretty pleased with ourselves. Shows what a cracking performance does for a Team - even in the cold.
