Training in the Rain

Today was essentially getting used to playing on the larger pitch. We played tag rugby games for just over an hour and made sure we learnt some of the things that may have cost us some tries the week before against Rochford.

The "Snooze or your Lose" shout was firmly demonstrated by allowing the attacking team to start when they were ready,it took little time for the team to realise and start sprinting back into position to ensure the defensive line was in place before needless further tries were conceded.

We also learnt not to be so predictable when we start on the attack. The ball does not need to be passed to the centre each time and the passer learnt to look and see what space could be exploited before he passed. This lead to some clever passing by Kieran and Dihan.

We also saw some very good support play and passing along the line, Ollie and Josh did well at that this week.

Some direct running forward By Finley and Woody and Josh again was pleasing to see and Oscar running down the line to score a couple of tries as well - brilliant.

Nate score a couple of tries showing he is becoming a very consistent and speedy player and Jacob continues to learn quickly and does not look like he has now only been playing for a few weeks but is now fully part of the team.

Kieran probably scored the try of the day running left and right through the opposition a few times. Not that I am biased at all!. Kieran also was on the receiving end of the tackle of the day by Matthew. A full length rugby tackle with two hands around the legs. Clearly highly illegal for tag rugby but great for next season!

Matthew. Oliver and Dihan won training awards this week for some consistent and top rugby playing.

Overall a very pleasing day with everyone doing really well in the pouring rain.
