Well what can be said about the Saracens festival?

Well what can be said about the Saracens festival? It was such a great day and all the kids played so well on the way to some great results.

The 2 teams Sharks and Wasps were drawn in different pools Sharks in pool C and had to play Saracens, Cheshunt 2 and Dover, teams they hadn't played before.

The first game against Saracens was a very physical game and Saracens were a bigger team then our boys but the sharks did so well coming back time after time and finally getting a hard fought draw at 5x5.

The second game was against Cheshunt 2 and was a truly end to end game with the Sharks winning 8x7 and getting 18 tags on the way.

Their last game was against Dover, the Sharks went behind straight away but this didn’t stop them they just got on with the game and they ended up winning 3x2 getting 18 tags and a great victory.

After 3 games in their pool, the Sharks had 7 points had scored 16 tries and over 40 tags.

The Wasps were drawn in pool F and they had to play Barnet, Haringey and Old Grammarians Knights also teams they hadn't faced before.

Their first game was against the Old Grammarians Knights and was a tense affair with some great runs and flying tags and Wasps won it 7x6 and got 10 tags.

Their second game was against Barnet and even though Wasps got 11 tags they were beaten 2x4 this was a tough game and the boys played really well.

Their last game was against Haringey a game Wasps dominated with some great tries and many tags and Haringey not venturing outside their own half much as wasps defence was so good forcing them back every time they had the ball and Wasps won 3x0 and got 22 tags the highest tag count of any game that day.

After finishing their pool games the wasps had 6 points had scored 17 tries and got over 40 tags in total.

both teams had played so so well and made a sterling effort but alas neither had moved onto the knockout stages, the Shark had so narrowly missed out and finished with the same points as Saracen’s but having 1 try less so did not progress.

So much has to be said about the boys today they were so eager to play and really seemed to enjoy the competition they did them self’s their parents, coaches and the club proud, through their attitude and fun that they had today well done boys.

A lot has to be said about our coaches Del, Wally, Rob, Chris, Andy and Nathan without who they would not have done so well, so well done guys.

There was no player of the day but there was a player of the tournament and it was no easy choice the coaches having to mention lots of boys that could have won it today but in the end Bradley got the honour having made 15 tags and scoring 8 tries well done Bradley.

The silly hat competition was won by Oliver.

After the tournament the boy went on to watch Saracens v London Welsh also a great game with Saracens wining 35 to 14 and everyone going onto the pitch to have a final run around before we all headed home every one had a fantastic day.

Have a good week and see you all next week.
