Off to Southend for a doubleheader.

The first section of the warm up was on the pitch with some trees for shelter, the main warm up on the open pitch. It was so windy our cones and balls were blowing away.
Despite the conditions, we turned up with a Team that were up for the doubleheader. With Southend able to field two full teams we played 3 games.

The squad was Brad, Charlie, Ellis, Hayden, Katie, Keith, Logan, Luca, Mikey, Noah, and Reighley. All keen to play good rugby. A few had done their swimming gala the day before, but still hungry for some rugby.

First up were Southend. A great game, with the Southend coach saying they would love their players to be getting such good competitive matches every week.
We kept the ball in close due to the conditions, handling was good. We spilt some ball in contact, but we can work on that. Our defence gained many turnovers from Southend and it was a real game of desire, skill and hard work.

The next game was against the other Southend team. Again very physical, and the Team played well. Space was there on the outside, but hard to find in the conditions. Plenty of first up runs into traffic with ball in hand. Tackling from both teams was full on. Terrific to watch the effort put in, and again the handling when we did pass was excellent.

The final game was against Upminster. We reduced the number of players on the pitch to match them. With more space, everyone took the opportunity to run with two hands on the ball and into the gaps. This showed our good vision, sidestepping and pace. Good support for the ball carrier, as there were plenty of yards made.

We asked the Team for the Team Player who put the most effort in. Brad and Logan got the biggest shouts - well done.

We also asked for a Magic Moment. This brought a bit of head scratching before Ellis voted himself in for a great run and acrobatic dive over the try line.

Brilliant games in demanding conditions. Let's keep it going!
