Training in the Sun this week

This week the boys were at home again for a training session, and the sun put in an appearance for us too.

The boys started with a quick warm up followed by some sessions of passing into space. Then on to a mixed game of 6 v 6 where half of each team had bibs on. David made up the 6th player for one side after struggling into a bib, much to the amusement of the kids and parents.

The object of the session was to get the boys to realign as quickly as possible, with the attacking team only allowed to have either bibs or non bibs in attack. On tackle the other half of the team took over. The boys worked well with this session, and started to line out well.

Next the boys were split into 2 teams, one of 6 the other of 5, to play a game of touch rugby against the Under 8's. This was to allow the U9's to practice the setting out and rush attack they had been practising, and to allow the U8's to practise presenting the ball that they had been training on earlier in their session.

Both U8's and U9's put in a lot of effort in warm conditions and both sides saw an improvement in the areas they had been practising. Well done to the boys and to the coaches.

Next week the boys are away at Eaton Manor for the last festival and game of the season, and everyone hoping for a good session from the boys.
