This week the boys were put through their paces in somewhat muddy conditions. Oliver lead the start of the session by undertaking the warm up with the team.
Next the boys undertook some tackle practise with popping the ball from the tackle to the supporting player. The boys followed this with a game of 6 v 6, with Paul keeping the 6 players from last weeks successful festival together to show the team coming up as a line, and the tackling in quick succession. When they had the ball the boys also showed the passing of the ball down the line to the player/s in space.
After a short water break Paul and David joined the teams and a game of touch rugby with the occasional "freeze" was introduced, whereby the team with the ball when the referee called the freeze had 2 free passes to get the ball into space.
Next the boys were introduced to the maul, in preparation for next season. This was undertaken at walking pass with 2 players initially then a 3rd added for support and to undertake the clearing out of the tackling player.
Finally the session was rounded off with a game of bull dog before all boys went off to be hosed down before being allowed into parents cars. Player of the week this week for listening and paying attention during the session was Harvey.
More training next week in the run up to the last festival of the season at Eaton Manor on the 28th, and hoping for a little less mud :-).
Congratulations to the 1st Team on their win yesterday and promotion by wining the league with one game in hand. Have a good week all.
