Rochford at Home postponed

This weeks home fixture against Rochford was postponed due to the recent spell of snow and very wet pitches as a result of the following thaw.

So training again took place indoors, and this week we were back in the big hall at South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre, but without Paul who was ill. The boys started with a warm up of piggy back races, wheelbarrow races and touch wrestling.

They boys were then split into 2 teams and had to work there way across the set out rectangle from one side to the other, fanning out and passing the ball through every player in the teams hands, before all sprinting to the opposite corner. After a couple attempts the two teams raced each other and there was very little between each of them.

We then moved on to practicing the Defence and Attack line out positions, building on what we had started two weeks ago and getting the boys to react quicker. This was then reinforced with a quick game of 6 v 6 Touch Rugby where both sides had to implement what they had been practising. Finally the boys were asked to include a move that they had come up with themselves into the play, such as scissors, miss passes, loops etc.

We finished off the session with a combined U9’s and U10’s touch rugby session lead by Jiggo, again reinforcing the things we had learnt in the earlier sessions. Next week’s fixture is a home game against Burnham, which will be again subject to pitch/weather conditions.
