What a scorcher

The sun shone for the second weekend in a row for this morning’s training session. This week we had 16 players, with Harry trying out what it’s all about in the under 9’s.

This week we focused on developing some of the skills from last week, specifically tackling and passing. Following the warm up the team went straight into a game of touch rugby concentrating on the profile position and grab tackle. We then focused on the skills of going to ground and presenting the ball for the Scrum Half to collect and pass out, along with the pop pass out of the tackle.

Again the skills being taught demonstrated in small groups before introducing them in a full game of contact rugby. Finally we brought all the elements together in a game of full contact walking rugby. Some excellent communication, tackling and passing ensued and the guys had a great time.

Next week we will be concentrating more on this and speeding up the games from the walk. Player of the session today was Archie. See you all next week.
