for Woodham away at Thurrock this week

This week the boys travelled the short distance to Thurrock, for a rearranged fixture from the match earlier in the year that was postponed. The boys were spurred on this week following their draw away last weekend at Stanford.

With just 9 players this week, the trip to Wembley yesterday being too much for some, Bullet, Rhino, H, Jinks, Ox, LJ, Ben and Ogi took to the field, with Dynamo acting as sub for the first half.

The boys started well with Ross destroying everything in his way from the start, but unfortunately not controlling the ball in try zone and missing the opening points.

The boys worked well in the maul, getting a good push on Thurrock driving them back several meters. Points came from Woodham and it was set to be a good morning of rugby.

Further points from Bullet were answered by Thurrock, but Woodham were struggling at the breakdown and constantly looking for the Maul when they could have made better use of the tackle. Points came again from Bullet just before half time and the score was 1 - 3 to Woodham.

The second half saw much of the same but neither Woodham or Thurrock were able to add additional points. Final score was 1-3 to Woodham.

The second match Thurrock upped their game and Woodham were unable to hold them off. Heads dropped a little and the final score was 2 - 1 to Thurrock, with Ogi gaining the points for Woodham.

The third game of the day saw a closer affair. Both sides were working hard and looking for the win. The first half saw tries from H, Ox and Bullet (x2). In the second half, Woodham were only able to add an additional point to the score with Thurrock adding 3, leaving the final score 3 - 5 to Woodham.

Another good weekend of Rugby from the boys, with a home game next weekend against local team Burnham. Woodham will be looking for a home advantage to help them through, and to try to overturn the away loss from earlier in the season.

We then get into the festivals where hopefully Woodham can show some of the great rugby we have seen over the last couple of weekends.
