Woodham host Thurrock

This week saw Thurrock travel to Woodham for what would be our first home fixture for five weeks. The weather was dry and the pitches had seen some treatment from the ground staff, and both teams were keen to get on with the proceedings.

Thurrock won the toss and elected to kick off. 10 minutes per half would be the allotted time, and both teams started well. Woodham took an early dominance over Thurrock, but they were not going to lie down and let Woodham have it all their own way.

Some good work from the boys and playing as a team together saw some great offloads in or before the tackle with good pick-ups from the likes of Ross, Morgan, Samuel and Jake. At the end of the first match Woodham had taken a convincing win 9 tries to 2.

The second match saw more of the same, but Thurrock came back at Woodham with fire in their bellies. Woodham trailing 2 tries to 1 at the break. After a pep talk from Paul the boys saw the error of their ways and didn't allow Thurrock to score for the rest of the half, finishing 6 tries to 2.

A good days work at the office for the boys, with tries from both the new boys, Dan and Josh. All the boys improved this week, with better tackling and offloading. Player of the match was Jake for all round effort in the tackle, ruck, maul and scoring a couple of tries along the way.

Next week the boys are away at Burnham, where Thurrock may also be partaking and looking to turn the tables on the Woodham lads.
