The weather holds

This week we had no Paul so David led the session. The boys started a warm up with the tackle pads, progressing through various activities to develop the tackle. Then on to a quick passing game where the boys had to progress up the pitch running rounds and joining the line at the front to progress.

Next the boys were reminded about the Maul that was introduced last week. We followed various activities to try to develop what they learnt last week and to try to turn to protect the ball as they enter the tackle and the maul forms enabling the team mate to take the ball and pass it out to the supporting players.

This progressed into several other games building on the lessons form the earlier sessions, developing the maul technique and upper body strength. Finally the boys finished with a quick game to try to put all the things into practise.

No Paul again next week as he finishes his break. Next week we will be introducing the Ruck to the boys and hopefully progressing on to a match were we will see both the ruck and maul put into practise.
