Away To Braintree

Away to Braintree. As usual our nine were up against about 15.

Our Team were : Alfie, Brad, Charlie, Dexter, Ellis, George, Hayden, Luca, Noah.

The first half saw Woodham in the ascendancy with some good running and strong tackling. We shook of our normal routine of giving the opposition a four try head start. Great to see us playing good rugby. Rucks got a bit messy at times, so a focus for more training, but we were very competitive. Brad, Ellis and Dexter were particularly involved in trying to give us as much ball as possible.

In the second half, it was a tighter competition, but we still continued to have a lot of front foot ball and played well. Everyone was involved. We were still running at Braintree, but were not using the ball and space as best we could. Again more work to do in training.

We finished the game strongly, and Braintree asked to play another ten minutes. Our players agreed for themselves to do that, but we were blown out by then. We went to 8-a-side as we have Luca injured, and Charlie and George needed held together with sticky tape! We still competed, but not to the level we had during the game. It’s always the same when we have 9 playing half the other team who haven’t already played a full 40 minutes. It got a bit scrappy and some frustration from both Teams came out.
