Home to Rochford, we played four quarters of 10 minutes.
Our Team were : Alfie, Brad, Charlie, Dexter (in his first outing for the Team ) , Ellis, Hayden, Keith, Luca, Noah.
Rochford had 16 players to choose from. As part of a good warm up, we discussed the need to tackle low and ruck hard. No tickling in the tackles.
The first quarter again saw us not start the game and played touch using our hands as the Rochford players ran through us to score tries. We needed to tackle and play with more intensity.
Second, third and four quarters saw Woodham get into their stride. We don’t keep scores, but we didn’t lose on tries in those three quarters.
The Team still were a bit stand offish in the tackle and ruck areas ( we’ll be doing that in training next week! ), but improved greatly from the first quarter. They showed what they could do ball in hand and were much more competitive at the breakdown.
We don’t usually, but fed back the tries balance to the Team to try and build a bit of confidence and belief in themselves. They started really slowly, then played really well for the last three quarters.
Dexter got properly involved in his first game and did very well.
