Brentwood Away 211003

Away to Brentwood. We had the old football cliché. A game of two halves…….

Our Team were : Alfie, Andrew, Brad, Charlie, Ellis, Hayden, Keith, Luca, Noah. Mikey on cheerleading.
Brentwood had 16 player to choose from. Prematch the team emphasised the need to ruck and tackle, based on the previous week’s performance. Good self analysis from the Team.

The first half saw us not really engaging in tackling or rucking aggressively as a Team. A few players were always in the action., but they lacked the support of their teammates. We patted the Brentwood players on their backs as they were running past for tries. Not the best rugby we’ve played.

Andy gave the players the expectations at half time in no uncertain terms.

The second half saw us soak up pressure with aggressive tackling and counter rucking on our own line, for Luca to run coast to coast for a try. With more assertiveness in the contact area, we started looking much better and Brentwood had to work so much harder for any ball. More tries followed for Woodham. Alfie’s try showed great Teamwork, rucking, offloading and passing. Andrew had a Magic Moment when he made a try saving tackle on a Brentwood player close to our line.
