Lacking in numbers

Playing Romford is always a tough game for the under 12s and today was no different. With only 11 boys available, they had to 'borrow' a player from the welcoming team. Despite tackling well in training, the boys seemed intimidated by the strength and size of the opposing team. Thomas maintained his excellent chasing down of the ball and rucking. Kenny B kept up his tackling record; tackling low and with precision. Josh excelled in covering a huge amount of ground, tackling and generally disrupting the flow of the opposition. Byron made good with his kicking, passing and tackling.
Charlie, however, earned the title of player of the week by running in three of the four tries scored by SWFRUFC. Byron passed to Charlie who ran it in to score. The second was spectacular. After being awarded a tap and go penalty (Byron held up the ball to prevent Romford scoring), Charlie took it so quickly and ran the length of the pitch to score his second. Joshua made room to score the third. The fourth try was the best play of the day. From a penalty, Dan passed the ball to Kenny B. He made ground before passing to Josh who carried it almost to the try line before passing to Charlie to score.
Romford are a strong team and dominated the first half, however, the Woodham boys pushed back on the second half. With a bit more faith in themselves they can make those tackles count.

Thanks to Chris and Wayne for giving up their time every week.
