This week Woodham were at home hosting Thurrock ahead of the Essex Festival in 2 weeks which is to be held at Thurrock. Both sides had similar numbers, the weather was good and everyone was up for a good game of rugby.

Woodham won the toss and elected to kick. Woodham started well and the boys were supporting each other, the forwards taking the advantage at the ruck and feeding the backs with good balls. Woodham were soon over the visitor’s line for the first of what would be many tries. Woodham dominated the ruck and the scrum, with the backs again crossing the visitor’s line. Woodham scored several more before half time and it was clear to see the visitor heads had dropped. Woodham continued the attack in the second half, with the final score 12-0 to Woodham with try's from H (x2), Ox (x2), Harrison (x3), Bullet, Rhino, Crackers, Toby and Jamie.

After a short break both teams took to the field for the next match. Thurrock had regrouped and the first half saw some great rugby and determination from both sides. The score at half time was 0-0. The second half saw both teams working well and evenly matched, however it was Woodham that crossed for the first try. This was quickly followed by a second for Woodham, but Thurrock were not beaten. They came back at Woodham and managed to ship the ball out to the wing where they ran 34 of the length of the pitch to bring the score back to 2-1. Woodham crossed again for the last try of the match, 3-1 at full time. Tries from Harrison (x2) and Bullet.

Thurrock asked for a third game, and with only a small amount of time left it was agreed that we would play two 5 minute halves. Woodham again looked the dominant side and were soon crossing the Thurrock try line. Woodham continued to hit hard and this allowed them to score again and again over the visitor’s line. Thurrock continued to test Woodham but their defence held firm. The final score was 8-0 to Woodham, with tries from Rhino (x3), Harrison (x3) Toby and Ox.

Next week were training at home, with the following week were away at Thurrock for the Essex Festival.
