As Woodham visit Wanstead

This week the boys travelled to north London for an away fixture against Wanstead. A smaller team this week due to people being away and Wanstead were also short of players. We agreed to play 11 a side, lending Wanstead 2 players for each of the 2 matches that we would play.

For the first match Woodham lent Wanstead Stig and Dylon, and Woodham had the kick off. Both boys played well for Wanstead and they took the lead within the first 4 minutes. However Woodham came straigh back at Wanstead with a try though H. Both teams fought each other well for the next 6 minutes, but Woodham finally crossed the line with the last play before half time when Harrison breached the Wanstead defense.

The second half Woodham stepped up their game and held back every attack from Wanstead. H taking the ball up to the Wanstead line before being tackled popped the ball off to Mojo for him to cross the line. 2 minutes later mojo passed out to H for him to cross the Wanstead line. Wanstead were unable to respond and the final score was 1 - 4 to Woodham.

After a short break the boys took to the pitch for the second match. Woodham lending Mojo and Alex to Wantead. Wanstead took the kick, Harrison taking the catch and steaming through the Wanstead defence, crossed the line scoring the first try on 22 seconds. Wanstead dug in deep and responded to the Woodham try on 3 minutes. Both teams holding each other back until Harrison was able to break through just after 7 minutes. Harrison then drove over just before the 9th minute, and again on the last play of the half.

The second half saw Woodham fall at the first fence as Wanstead stormed over within the first 45 seconds. Woodham were quick of the restart and pushing Wanstead up the pitch, Rhino, using his side step, passed out to Ox for him to cross for his first of the match. Woodham again crossed the Wanstead line, this time through Harrison after a 3/4 lenght run on 5 minutes. 2 more tries would come for Woodham, one through H of the back of a scum on Wansteads 22, and the second from Ross off of a pass from Harrison. Final score was 2 - 8 to Woodham.

A great morning of Rugby the boys played well ith all players stepping up their game. Man of the Match was Harrison with Effort of the Match was CJ.

Next week were away at the Southend Development Festival.
