Woodham host Ongar

This week saw Woodham host Ongar for the two teams first meeting this season. The weather was cold and wet and this would have a big impact on the game.

The format would be 1 game of 4x 10 minute quarters. Ongar won the toss and elected to receive the kick. Ongar were quick and more disciplined to start in the ruck turning Woodham over on a number of occasions. The ball was quickly played down the line but the weather lead to both sides making a number of mistakes due to cold wet hands.

Ongar took a convincing lead scoring several tries with no response from Woodham. Ongar realigning quickly on the back of the ruck forcing the overlap and taking advantage of it. Woodham didn't give up and as the game progressed, Woodham's tackling improved. Woodham also started to contest the Ruck and started to turn Ongar over, but as the game went on the conditions under foot became heavy slowing both teams down.

Both sides played well but Ongar were more dominant than Woodham and this showed in the final score, 4-9 to Ongar. Try scorers this week for Woodham were H, Rhino and Harrison with a brace. Player of the match chosen by the Ongar coaches was Bullet.
