September 2020 Under 13s

Sunny Sundays have provided the boys with the need for lots of hydration over the last few weeks. Good attendance each week and mid-week has seen much improved confidence, communication, ball-handling and superb adaptation to the new rules for the Ready4Rugby game.

This week, the boys were split into 2 teams with a named captain and coach for the game play. After a slow start, they came to life and the following positives were seen:

Running forward onto the ball
Support play near to the try line
Great awareness
Holding the attacking line
Effective tap and go (if support player ready to go too!)
Safe hands
Accurate passing
Communication
Good ground gain.

Points to work on:

Use the width of the pitch
Look for the pass
Remember to retreat after ‘Touch 2’
Don’t be harsh on yourself, pick yourself up and move on.

Learning a new game can be incredibly frustrating especially when instinct takes over! However, the boys are doing so well and improving all of the time. With up to 18 players coming together each week, training well and communicating effectively, the future looks bright!
