It was a great day for Rugby.

Woodford were on site early warming up, as were ‘The Woods’. We had a full squad turn up for the game today.
Mitchell Hill, Lukian Wall-Line, Joshua Jasper, Jack Beattie, Hayden Allen, Joe McClure, George Tickner, James Skelt, Tom Woollard, Noah Watkins, Dan Williams, Ewan Carter, Presley Llewellyn, Nathan Davies, Cody Hart, James Hallet, Thomas Hanlon, Frank Nichol.

The game started off with hope that the team could pull off another victory and the boys were in good spirits. Woodford made a great start getting their first team try over the line within the first 6 minutes. SWF were not disheartened. The boys pushed and put together some good passes but unfortunately lost the ball on the ground. With some crushing tackles, Woodham eventually turned the ball over again, and with great spirit, managed to get the ball to BigJoe who did what the big man does. He pushed through the Woodford defensive line to get the first Woodham try over the line.

Woodfords defense was strong and their ability to rip the ball was proving tough for the Woods to deal with. Woodford carried the ball well and took the ball over for another try within minutes. Some great tackling and passing from both sides saw the play going back and forth up and down the field, but Woodford had the advantage with a very well organized attacking line and managed to push another 2 tries over before the halftime whistle went up.

After a great team talk, and with some strong substitutions coming on, the boys went out for the second half with renewed vigor. With the likes of Hayden, Dan, Mitchell, Tom and Josh showing Woodford that the Woods were a force to be reckoned with in defense, as well as pushing forward, some unbelievable effort got them close to the try line on a couple of occasions. Woodfords winger then took the ball and ran through almost the entire team and scored a very good individual try. Nathan made a couple of fantastic runs, as did Dan, but Woodford were very strong in defense and the boys just couldn’t penetrate. Mitchell made a couple of amazing lunges for the line, with 3 or more Woodford players hanging off him, leading to him unanimously winning the golden (stinky) boot for his match long efforts.

Woodford scored again halfway through the second half with another great solo effort from their winger, and the Woods knew that they had lost this battle. They didn’t give up. The tackling became a little untidy as the legs were wearing and a couple of high tackles and one particularly dangerous tackle were noted. The teams were asked to calm down and Woodham could see another try coming their way. Re-enter BigJoe. Again, with his trademark run, took the ball through the Woodford defense for the second of the Woods tries for the day, bringing the final score to 30-10.
