After 4 wins on the bounce, the U13's were looking to extend their run against local rivals Chelmsford.
The opening period saw the teams playing good rugby with both defences putting in some good tackles albeit in the case of Woodham a few high ones. This resulted in a couple of penalties being awarded in the Woodham 22 in the first ten minutes. From the 2nd penalty, Chelmsford passed to their big ball carriers which sucked in a few Woodham defenders and with a quick ball out to their backs, they crossed the line to score 1st. Woodham kept on going and with the forwards winning the scrums, this gave the backs the chance to start passing the around which resulting in the next 2 tries, one each for Zachary and Alfie. With Chelmsford scoring 2 more and Zachary crossing again, the score at half time was 15-15.
Woodham kept pressing in the 2nd half and dominated the scrum but Chelmsford kept finding their speedy centre with the offload who crossed twice within 10 minutes. Zachary scored again but with Woodham not able to the deal with Chelmsford's rapid centre they shipped another 3 tries making the final score 20-40 to Chelmsford.
A good shift put in by the boys, especially the forwards in the scrum, but today was not their day despite all the effort put in.
This weeks team was Charlie, Adam, Harry, Oliver, Reece, Liam, Harry, Bradley, Alfie, Mason, William, Zachary, Harrison, Ryan, Max and Rowan. Well done to all.
It's training now for 2 weeks before the team have the opportunity to turn out again.
