South Woodham Ferrers RFC host Brentwood

Sunday saw SWFRFC U13’s host their Brentwood counterparts for what turned out to be a good afternoons Rugby.

With Woodham kicking off into a light breeze, they put pressure on Brentwood from the start with a good chase. Brentwood passed the ball out but soon found out that despite all their efforts to go forward, they were being closed down all the time from the pressure being constantly put on them by the home team. It wasn’t long before the ball was turned over and a couple of passes out saw Zachary get the ball and go over for the first try. With Woodham playing in Brentwood’s 22 area for the first 15 minutes, 2 more tries were scored by Zachary and Bradley to make it 15-0. Zachary scored again before Brentwood got a short spell of possession which finally resulted in a try a few minutes from half time making it 20-5.

The second half saw most of the game played in the Brentwood half. Within a few minutes of the restart, Alfie went over the try line to make it 25-5. Brentwood were not finished; a good combination of passing wide saw their player run 50m to dot the ball down in the corner. With the penalties starting to pile up from Brentwood, Woodham were once again taking control of the game and 2 more tries from Woodham (Zachary & Mason) and 1 from Brentwood saw the final score 35-15. The result was a good reflection of the possession and territory that Woodham had and the whole team contributing to the result. Well done to all the players from both sides for a good game.

With 3 wins on the trot for Woodham, they need to take this form into their next game against Chingford who will be a tougher challenge.
