with away win at Campion

This week Woodham travelled away to North London side Campion. New to the League this year, Campion have a strong senior side, and the U13's one of their only youth teams. Four 15 minute quarters were agreed, rather than two 25 minute halves.

Woodham kicked off, with Campion having the downhill advantage for the first 2 quarters. Both teams were straight into the action with good form at the breakdown. Woodham struck first with a tried from Harrison. Campion started to take the edge at the ruck but the Woodham pack dominated the scrum, turning over a number of Campion put ins. Woodham continued to apply pressure to the home team and added 10 more points with Try's from Gerard and Ross.

The second quarter was a tighter affair, with both teams showing that this was going to be a physical game. The tackles were strong and hard from both teams, although in some cases both sides were tackling a little high. Campion answered Woodham with their first Try, pushing through the Woodham defence. Woodham regrouped and getting the ball out to Louis C allowed the outside centre to find his legs to run through for Woodhams 4th score.

Campion came out at Woodham in the third quarter, determined to put some more points on the board. Woodham seemed to be caught napping and Campion managed to break through for their 2nd score of the match. This seemed to wake up the visitors, who through some good phases of play ran over the Campion line with trys from H, Harrison, H again, Louis C and for his hat trick Harrison.

Both teams were now starting to tire, but with the downhill advantage Woodham managed to continue to pressure Campions line. 3 more trys were to come unanswered from Jody, Rhino and Harrison, to bring the match to an end just before the last quarter was up at 10 - 60, with a comfortable win for Woodham.

Next week the boys are away to Basildon for a friendly, and Woodham look to extend their current run of wins. Woodham took on Basildon at home earlier in the season losing 20 - 40, and Woodham are looking to overturn Basildon who have the home advantage.

Man of the match this week went to Jody, with Effort of the Match to Louis C. For forgetting the trophy Wally of the week went to Gerard.
