Who hosted Barking in the first cup match of the season.

This week saw the boys at home in the first Waterfall Cup Match of the season. The boys were looking forward to the match against Barking following the win away at Benfleet. Lewis and Jodie were missing this week from the Team.

Woodham won the toss and elected to receive the kick off from the visitors. This fell straight into the hands of Harrison who cut through the Barking defence for the first try of the match in just 22 seconds. After the restart, things settled down but Woodham seemed to find their tempo from the off. Soon H was to cross the line for the second Woodham try after a nice backs move allowed him to break the Barking defence.

Not to be out done the forwards were dominating the scrum and Harrison again crossed for Woodham after the forwards won the ball. Play continued to take place firmly in Barking's half of the pitch with Woodham applying a constant pressure. Barking scrambled the ball off of the line and kicked out of their try area for Woodham to bring the ball back to them again. A penalty awarded in Woodham's favour 5 meters from the Barking line allowed Oli to rampage through dragging Barking players with him for Woodham's next try.

The next points came from Woodham again, with H crossing over following a great double tackle from Harrison and Rhino, ripping the ball from Barking and recycling out to the backs. But Barking were not done and soon cut through the Woodham defence with a 3/4 pitch length run to score under the posts. Ox, H and Harrison (his hattrick) all scored again before Rhino scored the last Try of the half after being gifted the ball by the Barking Winger. Half time score was 45 - 5 to Woodham.

The second half saw more of the same, although the Woodham pack started to lose its edge and Barking winning an increasing number of balls with a good push. They were however not able to capitalise on the forwards work and Woodham punished them with further try's, Harrison taking his fourth. Ox drove over with a 5 meter crash ball, followed further try's from Harrison, Zach, H, Owen, Harrison again. The final score of the match came from scrum half Toby following a pick up 1 meter out from the Barking line at the back of a ruck diving over to secure the game. Score at the whistle was 85 - 5 to Woodham.

All boys did extremely well and everyone showed improvement. Man of the match this week was Harrison with George picking up effort of the week. Wally of the week this week went to Coach Adam for not being in shirt and tie after the match. Back to training next Sunday with no training this Thursday due to a schools Festival on Tuesday night. Good luck to all those taking part.
