for their 3rd league match of the season

This week Woodham were away to Benfleet Vikings. This would be Woodham's first visit to the Benfleet ground, the last time Woodham playing them was 2 seasons ago at home, with Woodham taking the match 5-3.

10 minutes before kick off Benfleet only had 8 players so Woodham agreed to provide 4 rolling loan players and the match would be split into four 15 minute quarters. Benfleet managed to field some extra players and won the toss electing to kick to Woodham.

Woodham started strong taking the Benfleet kick well and running the ball straight back at the home side. After a short period of Play Ox crossed the line on 2 minutes for Woodham. Woodham continued to remain strong with 5 more trys in the next 7 minutes from H, Bullet, Harrison, Bullet and Jody. Benfleets kicking game was good and used to good effect on a number of occasions to push the Woodham boys back, but with 3 more trys before the end of quarter, from Rhino with a brace from Harrison, Woodham took a comfortable lead, 0 - 45 into the second quarter.

Woodham changed over the loan players and gave Benfleet a couple of out stronger players. Whether this helped or not, Benfleet came out more positive and like a different pack in the scrum. Harrison soon doing what he does best, cut through the Woodham defence and crossing the line for Benfleets first Try. This was soon followed up with a second try, again by Harrison before Woodham crossed over with a try from Captain, Rhino followed by Ox and his first of the season Lewis W. Score 10 - 60 at the end of the quarter.

Next up for loan to Benfleet were Bullet and Rhino, however it was H who was to score next for Woodham. Good play continued from both sides, and Benfleet showed grit and determination, with Bullet crossing for their next try. Jody quickly crossed again for Woodham, before Rhino scored for Benfleet. A quick succession of trys followed with Owen for Woodham, 2 from Benfleet and then 2 more for Woodham from Stig and Jody, leaving the quarter 30 - 85 to Woodham.

The last quarter saw Woodham finish the now tiring Benfleet side with trys from Harrison (x3), Bullet, OX and Jody. The final score 30 - 115 with a comfortable win for Woodham boosting their confidence. Man of the Match this week was Rhino with Effort of the Match going to Lewis W. Wally of the Week going to Harrison and Bullet for forgetting the trophies and Jody for not having his after match shirt and tie.
