Under 15’s host Eton Manor

Woodham hosted Eton Manor in the league this weekend. With 4 players out Woodham had no subs so an agreement to lead players if needed was confirmed.

Manor lost the toss and elected to receive the kick off. Manor pushed deep into the Woodham half from the kick putting the home side under pressure. Woodham slowly worked their way out of their own 22, but the Manor defence was strong. Manor secured the ball from a break down and quickly showed how they would play for the rest of the game, shipping the ball out wide to their speedsters on the wing. With the conversion Manor took the lead 0-7.

More of the same ensued for the first half, manor winning the ball and using their pace on the outside to drive through. Occasionally the switched things up and using their big forwards, the drove through the middle of the Woodham defence, before pushing out wide. Manor had one try disallowed as the assistant referee flagged a foot in touch, but they quickly recovered and scored again. Woodham lost H after taking a knock to the face, so Manor loaned a player as agreed at the start of the match. At the half time whistle the score was 0 -43 to Manor.

The second half saw a rejuvenated Woodham take to the pitch. Each player given individual goals and told not to worry about the score. It was agreed that should a 50 points score occur that a training game would continue until the end of the 30 minutes. However, this wasn’t required.

Woodham pushed hard and worked for every ball. The forwards driving through, with the backs shipping the ball down the line. Bullet on the wing made a great nuisance of himself, and Redmond in the forwards driving up ball time after time, and hitting the tackles hard. Both secured a try each, but no conversions. Manor were unable to push back through in most cases, but did managed to secure 2 more try’s before the final whistle. Final score 10 – 62.
