MUDBATH!

Away to Billericay 16th November 2019

Squad: Byron, Charlie, Kenny R, Kenny B, William, Thomas, Dan, Josh, Archie, Felix, Alfie, Jack C

The boys received a very warm and muddy welcome at Billericay this Sunday. Soon after kick off, Kenny B ripped the ball superbly before passing to Charlie. First try to South Woodham. Dan, yet again, playing his part as scrum half enabled Byron to make a great run before being tackled into touch. Following some wonderful passing and receiving, Josh ran in the second try.

Archie made some good ground and with training for the team in passing and receiving paying off Kenny B drove over for Woodham’s third try. The boys seemed determined to show much more cohesive play. Byron kicked the ball and followed it up to tackle the receiver – great running! Billericay then pushed forward successfully to score their first try. Josh made a great steal before the ball was turned over. Half time score 3-1.

As the pitch became further churned up, play became a bit scrappy but Alfie made a fantastic tackle and rescue kick from the try line. Jack C made a valuable tackle and Thomas showed his great strength of consistently rucking and following up. Amazing passing and receiving across the width of the pitch enabled Josh to run in the fourth try. More ground gaining runs from Archie and Kenny R making forays into tackling, saw Byron make a good run before passing to Jack C who drove over the line to score. Before long, Billericay pushed back hard from the kick off to catch the Woodham boys napping, making the score 5-2. Kenny B made an excellent tackle into touch, giving Josh the opportunity to run towards the line before passing it to Dan to score. Billericay then ran in two more tries before the final whistle.

Training had a great impact – passing and receiving was strong this week. Thank you to our coaches who give up their time for training and matches.

Full-time score 6-4.
Player of the week: Thomas for his consistent rucking and following up.
Next week: home to Chelmsford
