Over the course of the May Day bank holiday weekend, our U14s side participated in their 4th end of season tour.

This year the Lads and Dads headed down to the East Kent Coast.

Arriving on Friday evening at our holiday park base, events commenced with the official handing out of the tour shirts, gratefully sponsored by Vision Express Rayleigh, and supplied by RED.

Saturday morning the team departed to our hosts for the day Dover Sharks RFC.

South Woodham Ferrers opened the day of rugby against Reigate who were also touring. The weather turned into an icy hailstorm as the game kicked off, but that did not deter our lads, who pushed on with force to take a strong win 29-10.

The lads then went straight into their 2nd game vs Dover. This was a more even contest in the first half with both teams exchanging tries. The odds then began to stack up against Woodham as injury forced a couple of players off and fatigue set in. The lads battled to the end, however they could not overcome Dover's bigger powerful players early scores in the second half to lose the game 28-14.

After some relaxation and recuperation back at the holiday park for the remainder of the day, the lads were ready for their 2nd day of rugby on the Sunday.

This time our hosts for the day were Deal and Betteshanger Lions RFC, who had an impressive setting at a former Royal Marines Drill ground.

Woodham started slowly, and soon realised they were in for a tough contest against a well prepared and strong side. Unfortunately the lads could not match Deal's physicality, however they showed real steel with the forwards securing a couple of good tries from set play, the final result being a loss of 47-10.

After a short break for the team to recover and reflect, the lads stepped onto the field for the final game of the tour and season vs Sheppey and Sittingbourne RFC. The instructions from the coaches and Dad's were simple 'there's no pressure so go and have some fun' and that they did. The lads proved their capability, playing some very entertaining champagne rugby. Some great worked through team tries with sublime passing and support play, earned the lads a well deserved victory 43-0. Their beaming smiles said it all, and the win was very rewarding for the supporting Dad's.

The day ended with a trip 'Down to Margate' beach for a Lads vs Dads touch rugby and then baseball game, which the Dads obviously won!

So in summary 2 superb wins, 1 narrow loss, and a bit drubbing by Kent's U14s top side.

Another successful tour, enjoyed by all, and a perfect way to end a great season, bonding the lads even closer #mates for life
