GO
PLAY RUGBY
Clubs are signing up in
their hundreds for Go Play
Rugby. The national adult
player recruitment campaign
is generating great
enthusiasm among clubs and
CBs. 1400 people from over
600 clubs have attended the
45 launch events up and down
the country. 1800 people
from 450 clubs and
universities have registered
on RugbyFirst to be part of
Club Campaign Teams. The
call to action is
galvanising clubs to make
the best of the opportunity
that the Rugby World Cup
will bring to recruit
players. Club members are
receiving training in
recruiting and retaining
players and will receive
professionally developed
promotional resources to
help them advertise their
clubs and the game.

PLAYER
REGISTRATION
Clubs can now register,
transfer and de-register
players on line using
RugbyFirst at
www.rfu.com/clubs
Player registration can be
undertaken for both adult
and youth player
registration using the
on-line system for English
qualified players who are
not contracted. Clubs simply
have to nominate an adult,
youth or women’s registrar
to be able to use the
registration system.
All existing registered
players are already entered
in the system centrally –
clubs can print out their
own registration lists.
Training is available
on-line for registrars to
use the system once they
have logged on with their
unique username and password
details.

COACH
LICENSING SCHEME
Following a year long
development and consultation
process, the final proposals
for the coach licensing
scheme have been produced
and appear upon the coaching
web-site. The scheme, due to
be considered by the RFU
Council in September, if
accepted, will commence in
January 2008 for all new
qualifying coaches.
The intention will be to
open the scheme to existing
coaches from September 2008.
The aspiration, in line with
government policy is to
implement a mandatory coach
licensing scheme in 2010.
Licensed coaches will become
members of the RFU’s
Coaching Association, and
receive considerable
benefits, including access
to a new coaching website,
coaching journals and
discount of courses and
resources. Please visit
www.rfu.com/coach
for further details.
